MSU Psychology Puts Thought into DesignMichigan State University's Department of Psychology is home to six graduate programs, several more interdepartmental programs, a very popular undergrad program, several hundred research initiatives, and a psychological counseling clinic. Needless to say, there's an abundance of activities and information - and a real problem for web organization. The ProblemThe department presented us with a unique challenge: create a new website design that appeals to a wide audience, including current and prospective students, international graduate students, faculty members, government associations, and the community at large. Plus, it all had to be on a budget. The SolutionWe worked with a small group of representatives from the department to come up with initial concepts for the design. With input from all aspects of the department, we were able to create an information hierarchy to make sure the most important messages were most clearly represented on the website. We also had the goal of making the site look unique while still allying itself with MSU's overall brand. MSU's Psychology department's IT staff then developed the website and content management system independently, integrating it seamlessly with our design. |
